New year, new prospects. 2024 Bowman Baseball has all the autographs, Refractors and up-and-comers synonymous with the brand. With both hobby and retail configurations, there’ll be several ways to chase it.
Traditional hobby boxes once again deliver one autograph while larger jumbo boxes have three.
The base set has 100 cards, consisting of a mix of rookies and veterans. They’re complimented by 150 separately numbered Prospects.
Both sections of the checklist have matching parallels:
Chrome Prospects add some shimmer and shine to the same batch of 150 players. Of course, this also opens up the Refractor rainbow:
Chrome Prospect Autographs are one of the cornerstones of the entire hobby. A player’s “first” typically becomes one of their most important cards. Parallels include:
Chrome Rookie Autographs have Green Refractors (/99) and Yellow Refractors (/75) available in retail.
Paper Prospect Autographs, which stick with the Bowman name and not Bowman Chrome, are exclusive to retail. Parallels for these include:
Bowman Buyback Autographs, which are original cards with added signatures, are also randomly inserted in packs.
The insert lineup on the 2024 Bowman Baseball checklist is a mix of familiar and new.
With artificial intelligence being all the rage, Bowman A.I. uses advanced stats to predict future stars.
From the cutting edge in technology to a Happy Days background staple, Prospect Power-Up channels pinball for its design.
Returning inserts include Bowman Scouts’ Top 100, Bowman Spotlights and Rookie of the Year Favorites.
All of these insert sets come with Mini-Diamond Refractors (/150), Aqua Refractors (/125), retail-only Green Refractors (/99), Gold Refractors (/50), Red Refractors (/5) and Superfractors (1/1).
The ultra scarce Hidden Gems cross brand set gets another installment in 2024 Bowman Baseball as well.

2023 Upper Deck Goodwin Champions remains as eclectic as ever. There’s no product out there where you can go from chasing Michael Jordan autographs in one pack, finding surfers in another then finding glow-in-the-dark patch cards highlighting the wonders of the galaxy a few packs later.
That said, Upper Deck is changing things up a little. When they introduced the line over a decade ago, it was rooted in the hobby’s distant past. The past can still be found in the designs here, but it leans more on Upper Deck’s own brands and heritage. This includes Young Guns branching out from hockey.
As far as content goes, hobby boxes have two total autographs, memorabilia cards, manufactured patch cards or other premium inserts.
The full base set has 150 cards. It covers the full spectrum of sports, showcasing past and present athletes from basketball, baseball, football and plenty more. Some pop culture personalities and celebrities can also be found. Traditionally, Goodwin Champions and Allen & Ginter are the two annual releases that delve deep into sports seldom found on trading cards.
While the first 100 cards make up the shell set, the back third are Splash of Color short prints. These combine to land a somewhat modest but still challenging 1:5 packs.
All 150 cards have one-of-one Printing Plates as well.
Platinum variations (1:6 packs) return, putting a chromium spin on the set. Additional parallels for these include:
Splash of Color cards also get the 3-D Lenticular treatment. They come in three levels of rarity: Tier 1 – 1:36 packs, Tier 2 – 1:160 packs and Tier 3 – 1:1,438 packs. These double as UD Bounty cards so those that finish the set and register it can get exclusives not available in packs.
Signatures come can be found in several forms and formats on the 2023 Upper Deck Goodwin Champions checklist. This includes a major focus on on-card autographs.
Goodwin Autographs (1:288 packs) kick things off, taking a similar approach as the base set with a wide range of signers. Horizontal versions are also available, but with much tougher 1:576 pack odds. Other versions include Splash of Color Autographs (1:1,728 packs), Inscribed Autographs (1:3,000 packs) and Dual Autographs (/10).
Goudey Autographs (1:240 packs) return as do their Sport Royalty counterparts (1:8,640 packs) that typically highlight some of the biggest names in the product.
A handful of autograph inserts find their inspiration in Upper Deck’s past.
UD Game Jersey Autographs use the design from 1998-99 that has gone on to be one of the most iconic memorabilia sets ever produced. Even the unsigned versions for these are tough, falling 1:2,304 packs.
Other inserts drawing from the past include 2000 Retro SPA Football Auto (/299), 2000 Retro SPA Future Watch Auto (/299), and 2003-04 Retro SPA Rookie Authentics Autographs (/299 or /199).
Goodwin is a place that has some of the hobby’s most creative memorabilia cards. That means going beyond standard gear and into history.
Map pieces are used to created multiple sets: National Monument (1:360 packs), Sports Town Map Relics (1:480 packs), World Traveler City Centric (1:720 packs), and City Heroes Map Relics (1:2,160 packs).
Other relics include 1923 United States Currency (1:1,152 packs), Museum Collection Lady Luck Relics (1:1,152 packs), Birth Year Coinage (/50), and National Monuments Stamp Relics (/25).
Relic-adjacent Goodwin Masterpieces art cards take on two themes: Founding Fathers (/10) and one-of-one Art of Ages, which recreate classic pieces in a much smaller format.
2023 Upper Deck Goodwin Champions has a new set of manufactured patch cards. Rather than animals or birds, this time around it’s the outer reaches of the galaxy. Glow-in-the-Dark Space cards highlight planets, constellations and more.
Upper Deck’s most premium line, Exquisite Collection, finds a home in Goodwin Champions once again. This includes Exquisite Collection Base (/99) and Rookies (/149).
Select Base cards get Gold Spectrum Autographs (/10) and Black Autographs.
Rookie Autos come numbered to 99 and also have Gold Spectrum (/10) and Black (1/1) versions.
Taking things a step further are Rookie Auto Patch (/99) cards, which also have the same two levels of parallels.
Exquisite Signature Kicks have both Horizontal and Vertical versions. Joining the autograph on these are large pieces of sneakers like the ones the featured athlete wears.
Black Diamond, another high-end brand from the card maker, makes its Goodwin Champions debut.
Base Black Diamond cards have 349 copies each and have additional Red (/100) and Green (/10) parallels. Rookie Gems follow similar print runs. Some cards also have Pure Black Autographs that come with varying print runs.
Diamond Relics have actual diamonds embedded in them. Numbered to 99, each has between one and four diamonds depending on the player. Pure Black parallels are all one-of-ones.
A couple of Black Diamond inserts also make the jump, Band of Color (/23 or /20) and Gemography.
Upper Deck’s flagship set is highlighted with a set of inserts in 2023 Upper Deck Goodwin Champions. Not only does this mean standard cards but the introduction of Young Guns (1:15 packs). All have Clear Cut (1:100 packs, Young Guns – 1:400 packs), Exclusives (/100) and High Gloss (/10) versions as well.
2000 Retro SPA Football (/299) cards are also available.

After a record-breaking 2023 release, Leaf is pleased to announce the latest Leaf Metal Football product for 2024!
Along with a checklist that includes the top NIL players and draft picks in football, 2024 Leaf Metal Football will also feature some of the greatest legends and superstars from the gridiron.
In addition to the return of popular autograph sets like State Pride and So Money. You can find the new super rare Anime Nation Autographs as well as brand new Hobby Jumbo Exclusive Mete-Ore Autographs! There will also be a brand new Metal Football base set with parallels that include Hobby Jumbo Exclusives!
Every Autograph and Base Parallel card will be Numbered to 10 or less!
14 Cards per Box
2024 Leaf Metal Football marks one of the company’s first hobby releases of the season. While autographs continue to be a major focus, they’re not alone on the checklist. Base cards and other inserts appear as well, bringing with them some creative and colorful designs.
Standard hobby boxes have seven cards, five of which are autographs. Jumbo boxes contain 14 cards. Of those, 10 come with signatures including one slabbed proof.
The product also continues to be a shift away from Leaf Metal being strictly prospects. Draft-eligible players and collegiate standouts are both in the mix and a big part of the checklist. But they’re showcased alongside some current stars and greats from the past.
Besides Base Autographs, some other longstanding autograph themes return like Savage, So Money and State Pride.
Another installment of the Japanese art-inspired Anime Nation is on the checklist as well.
Other autographs include Graffiti Graphs, Lunararity and Dual Autos.
Hobby and jumbo boxes both have an exclusive autograph insert. For hobby boxes, it’s Ironclad. Meanwhile, Meteore cards are only in jumbo.
No individual card in the product has more than 10 copies.
Cards per pack: Hobby – 7, Jumbo – 14

This year, the base set is 350 cards. Veterans are joined by what should prove to be a deep rookie crop. Future Stars, League Leaders and team cards are among the subsets.
The parallels lineup is a big one and includes several exclusives:
True Photo cards should be instantly recognizable. That’s because they remove all design elements from the front leaving just a full-bleed photograph.
These aren’t all of the parallels. Like 2023 Topps Update, value blaster boxes come with three holiday-themed parallels. This time, Easter and spring are the inspiration. Combining to land three per blaster, these parallels include:
As far as variations go, 2024 Topps Series 1 Baseball sees the return of Golden Mirror Variations where every base card will have an SSP.
2024 marks the 35th anniversary of 1989 Topps Baseball. In keeping with flagship continuity, the set becomes the inspiration for a new set of inserts. The design sticks with the original but the cards feature a mix of current players and retired stars. Parallels include Blue (600 copies each), Black (/299), Real One (/89) that are on retro stock similar to Heritage, Gold (/75), Red (/10) and Platinum (1/1).
1989 Topps Foilboard cards are also available, although they’re exclusive to retail mega boxes. Gold Foil (/50), Orange Foil (/25), Red Foil (/5) and Black Foil (1/1) versions exist, too.
2023 All-Topps Team names the best at each position while 2023 Greatest Hits highlights the season’s top offensive performances.
Grand Gamers and Superstar Blueprint are among the other inserts.
All four of these have the same parallels: Blue, Black (/299), Gold (/75), Red (/10) and Platinum (1/1). Some cards from Superstar Blueprint, 2023 Greatest Hits and Grand Gamers have autographs as well numbered to 25 or fewer.
Heavy Lumber returns for another year. These come printed on woodgrain stock and have 500 copies each.
Some inserts on the 2024 Topps Series 1 Baseball checklist has some inserts that are only in retail packs. These start with another installment of Stars of the MLB. Landing one per retail pack, this set will continue through all three 204 Topps Baseball flagship releases, expanding in Series 2 and Update Series. Red (/75), Black (/25) and Platinum (1/1) parallels are available. There are also Stars of the MLB Chrome (1:10 retail packs) that have Red Refractors (/75), Black Refractors (/25) and Superfractors (1/1).
Topps Mega Stars are only in mega boxes. Foil parallels include Green (/99), Purple (/75), Gold (/50), Orange (/25), Red (/5) and Foilfractor (1/1).
The 1989 Topps theme carries over to autographs. These are signed on-card and mix rookies, veterans and retired players. Black (/199) and Gold (/50) are among the parallels. The checklist also has 1989 Topps Baseball Relics with their own Black (/199), Gold (/50) and Red (/25) versions.
The all-encompassing Baseball Stars Autographs return. Black (/199), Gold (/50), Red (/25) and Platinum (1/1) versions can be found as well. Baseball Stars Dual Autographs have no more than 10 copies each.
The 2023 playoffs are highlighted in relics (/99 or less), autographs (/50 or less) and autographed relics (/50 or less) under both the Postseason Performance and World Champion banners.
Major League Materials add more relics to the product. In addition to Black (/199), Gold (/50 or less) and Red (/25 or less) parallels, there are autographed versions that have a max of 50 copies each.
Topps Reverence returns. Exclusive to hobby and hobby jumbo packs, these combine on-card signatures with patch swatches. Base versions have 10 copies each with parallels landing in Red (/5) and Platinum (1/1).
Cards per pack: Hobby – 12, Hobby Jumbo – 40, Retail – 14, Blaster – 12, Hanger Box – 59, Fat Packs – 36, Super Box – 14, Monster Box – 14

You’re not going to find any freshly printed cards in 2024 Topps Archives Signature Series Baseball Active Player Edition. While the cards themselves are not new, the autographs on them are. Both of these are the cornerstone of the line as every card in the product is a buyback autograph.
Hobby boxes deliver just one card. It’s one from Topps’ past, presumably acquired the secondary market, that has since been signed. Cards can be old base cards or inserts from any line. Needless to say the final result is eclectic.
And virtually impossible to catalog.
While Topps typically releases player lists highlighting who is available in the product, exact breakdowns of the cards each signed and their corresponding print runs have never been revealed.
No individual card in the product has more than 99 serial numbered copies. However, players may sign several different cards.
To help differentiate an Archives Signature Series card from a random card someone may have sent through the mail to get autographed, Topps has added a foil stamp. The year is also noted in case that particular card was used in a previous Archives Signature Series set (it happens).

Upper Deck's celebration of memorabilia, 2023-24 SP Game Used Hockey is one of the best places to find a variety of event-used and game-used relic cards.
Similar to previous years, the Hobby boxes average one autograph or premium memorabilia card along with three cards that can be tech inserts or relics.
Covering stars and legends, the 2023-24 SP Game Used Hockey checklist opens with a 200-card base set. Another 80 cards are saved for the popular Authentic Rookies subset. Opting for rarity, the true base cards are numbered to match the player's jersey number.
In addition to standard base parallels, which are more plentiful than the base cards, there are also limited relic, autograph and auto relic parallels.
Looking at the inserts, 2023-24 SP Game Used Hockey honors the past with 2001 Retro Rookie Crossover (#/499) and 2003-04 Rookie Debut Retros (#/499).
Showcasing a "unique cut design," Deep Cuts (#/250) is a new insert for '23-24.
New Grooves (#/10) is also back for another year.
2023-24 SP Game Used Hockey Insert Rundown
2003-04 Rookie Debut Retros
New Grooves
2023-24 SP Game Used Hockey offers returning auto-relic sets, as well, including Banner Year Auto Relic and New Grooves Auto Relic.
Limited to 35 copies per manufactured letter patch, the Draft Day Marks series allows fans to chance to build the complete player nameplate.
The Inked Sweaters and Inked Rookie Sweaters cards are another brand staple.
However, not all autographs come with memorabilia in 2023-24 SP Game Used Hockey. Debuts consist of Deep Cuts Auto (#/75 or #/25) and SIGNED (1:24), which covers 30 top veterans.
Naturally, the relic portion of 2023-24 SP Game Used Hockey is massive.
Among several offerings in the Fabics line is All-Star Mascots Fabrics, which contains event-used memorabilia from the furry creatures.
SPGU also highlights game-used relic pieces from several high-profile 2023 events, including the All-Star Game, Global Series, Stadium Series, and Stanley Cup Playoffs/Finals.
More favorites, like Supreme Materials and Supreme Patches, are also in play.
New cards to collect on the relic side include Hall of Fame Marks (#/35 per letter), showcasing manufactured patch letters for all-time greats.
They’re Cones (#/25) is another debut, featuring event-used cones from the Fastest Skater competition at the 2023 NHL All-Star Game.

The base set has 220 cards, which is one-third smaller than Topps Update Series. To that end, it’s not a full carryover. But the overall feel of the checklist is similar with subsets like Rookie Debut and veterans in new for ’23 uniforms.
Falling under the Topps Chrome banner means a Refractor rainbow. And it’s a sizeable one:
Frozenfractors return, an exclusive to hobby jumbo packs. These blue-tinged cards are numbered to -5.
Some cards also get the SSP treatment with Image Variations. These have Green Speckle Refractors (/99), Gold Speckle Refractors (/50), Orange Speckle Refractors (/25), Red Refractors (/5) and Superfractors (1/1).
The main set’s design is the basis of Chrome Baseball Update Series Autographs. Unlike the Rookie Autographs in the main 2023 Topps Chrome set, these use stickers for the signatures and aren’t on-card.
Parallels include:
For those who like inserts, the 2023 Topps Chrome Update Baseball checklist has a lot of them.
1988 Topps Baseball (1:6), 2023 All-Star Game Chrome (1:6), Action Stars Chrome (1:6) and Titans (1:12) all get chromium makeovers after appearing in 2023 Topps Update Series Baseball. They’re joined by Green Refractors (/99), Gold Refractors (/50), Orange Refractors (/25), Red Refractors (/5) and Superfractors (1/1). Other than Titans, select cards also have tough autograph versions.
Another batch of Future Stars are also available, landing 1:16 hobby packs. These have the same five levels of parallels as the other more common inserts.
2023 Topps Chrome Update Baseball has a handful of scarce inserts as well.

2023 Bowman Chrome Mega Box Baseball delivers more mojo. Spinning out of 2023 Bowman Chrome Baseball, it takes a handful of parts from the checklist and gives cards a now-familiar Mega Box “mojo” makeover with a geometric pattern running through the background.
Each box has seven packs. However, just two have the exclusive Mega Box content. The other five are standard Bowman Chrome Baseball cards.
Prospects make up the bulk of the set, including the base cards. All 100 cards from the main Bowman Chrome release make the jump over with the revised backdrop. Additional parallels should also be expected, although specifics are not yet known.
Select cards have Image Variations, both signed and unsigned.
Mega Chrome Autographs are randomly inserted. The checklist here is a significantly abbreviated 37 signers, down from Bowman Chrome’s 132.
Two other insert sets make Mega moves, Bowman Ascensions and Bowman Iconic.
Cards per pack: Mega Box Chrome – 5, Bowman Chrome – 5
Packs per box: Mega Box Chrome – 2, Bowman Chrome – 5
